Off the Beaten Track overnight desert safari, Jaisalmer
A real desert, a real village and a real bed under the stars — 80 km of off-road Thar, a camel ride in, and a night far from the crowds.
A quieter overnight desert safari from Jaisalmer
If you want to see the real Thar — calm, empty and far from the crowded dune points — this is a very different trip. The safari covers roughly 40 km out and 40 km back by vehicle, then a 2 km camel ride each way into the dunes.
Along the way: desert wildlife, rural life, Khaba Fort, an oasis, Kuldhara and a dune sunset. At night there's candle light, a bonfire, dinner cooked in the open and a sky full of stars.

Desert safari questions
Is there a washroom at the overnight desert camp?
No. This is an open-dune camp, so there is no permanent washroom, conventional bathroom or regular electricity. Candle light and a bonfire light the camp at night. If you need a bathroom, choose a desert camp stay instead, or combine both.
Where does the desert safari pick up from?
Pickup is at about 2:00 PM from your camp, hotel or anywhere in Jaisalmer city, and you are dropped back at the same place the next morning.
Will we definitely see wildlife?
Chinkara, desert fox, hare, peacocks and desert birds are often seen on the route, but sightings are natural and cannot be guaranteed.
Is Khaba Fort visited in the evening or the morning?
It depends on the route and timing on the day — Khaba Fort is visited either on the way out or on the return the next morning.
Is music included at night?
Traditional music or a local singer is arranged when available; it is not guaranteed on every night.
